Millburn Central will be hosting its annual Talent Show on Wednesday, April 14^th and Thursday, April 15^th from 6:00 to 7:30 each evening.

 

Rehearsal will be from 2:45-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 for students whose last name begins with A-M; Thursday, March 25 for students whose last name begins with N-Z.  The rehearsal takes place in the cafeteria.  Anyone who wants to perform will be able to, but they must attend the rehearsal and follow the rules listed below.  Our hope is for the kids to have fun and enjoy performing their talent for us to enjoy.  There is no cost to participate, and everyone will receive a 1^st Place ribbon.

 

The Rules:

1. Participants may be in one act only.
2. The number of participants in an act may not exceed 5 people.
3. The time limit for each act is 2:00 minutes.  This is a change from last year.
4. School time may not be used for practices.
5. Acts may not include inappropriate language, unacceptable gestures, etc.
6. Lip-syncing is not allowed as an act.
7. Participants must provide their own music, props, costumes, etc. and make arrangements to have these available for the rehearsal and show.  The school will provide piano, microphones, mats and a stereo system for CD’s.
8. The purpose for the rehearsal is to make certain the rules have been followed, participants are ready and to determine the length of the show.  This also gives the kids a feel for what it’s like to be on a stage.
9. Participants must return the signed permission slip by Monday, March 22^nd.  Students will not be allowed to stay for rehearsal without this! 
10. Parents must pick up their children from the cafeteria and sign them out.  Please park in the lot behind school.

 

Performance Ideas (solo or ensemble): Singing, instruments, comedy skit, monologue, poetry reading, storytelling, dance, gymnastics, jump rope, baton, karate.  Note: For your safety, gymnastic routines are performed on mats in front of the stage, not on the stage.
